Herman Brix

Inducted: 1961

Easily identifiable in a couple of eras, he was a brilliant football tackle at the University of Washington, then captured a Silver Medal as a shotputter in the 1928 Olympic Games and thereafter became a matinee idol as a movie actor carrying the name of Bruce Bennett. He graduated from Stadium High in Tacoma.

Doris Brown Heritage

Inducted: 2005

One of the premier distance runners in the U.S. track and field history, her sparkling credentials include national records in the 440 and 880 runs in 1959, a member of the 1968 and 1972 Olympic team's 880 and 1500 runs, and a five-time USA and World Cross Country champion from 1967-1971. Her coaching record at Seattle Pacific is equally impressive. Her track career established her as one of the state's outstanding female athletes.

Gerry Lindgren

Inducted: 1979

A pint-size roadrunner who made his first big splash as a 17 year-old in 1964 by beating the Russians in a celebrated 10,000 meter race in Los Angeles. As a WSU star he rewrote the NCAA record books setting 11 national records. Injuries and physical problems prevented him from Olympic Gold Medals.

Brian Sternberg

Inducted: 1980

In his prime he was the greatest pole vaulter of them all. The talented University of Washington athlete probed his ability by establishing three World records. He was the holder of the record then an unfortunate gym accident ended his outstanding career. He is a member of the Husky Hall of Fame.

Mac Wilkins

Inducted: 1999

One of the State's outstanding track and field champions, he is the holder of numerous records including All-America discus honors at the University of Oregon in 1972 & 73, and Olympic Gold Medalist in 1976 and Silver Medalist in 1984, ranked first in the world in 1976 and 1980, four time world record holder, eight time U.S. National Champion in discus throw, National Champion 1977 in shot put, elected to the U.S. Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1993, still holds the world's best combined results for discus, shot put, javelin and hammer throw, member of State prep Championship team at Tacoma's Clover Park High School in 1968.
